Visualisation techniques

We’re now going to introduce you to different type of relaxation technique called visualisation. Visualisations essentially ask you to use your imagination to create images (or pictures) of things in your mind, to help promote a state of calm. We know that some people find it quite difficult to think in images. If this is the case with you, don’t worry – this is very common. Just try as best you can, and try using your other senses (e.g. what you imagine you might be able to feel, hear, smell etc…) when listening to the audio. The key to doing these types of exercises is to use your imagination in whatever way works best for you, to bring up positive feelings or sensations that can help you to feel happy, calm and relaxed.

Below is a guided visualisation that you may find helpful in managing anxiety. The exercise can be done sitting or lying down; just find a place where you can be relaxed and press play.

Look after yourself and seek help, if you need it.
